The Amazing Safety Quest is a non-timed, station-based obstacle course which can be hosted by community groups, schools, and employers as an activity to celebrate safety. It has proven popular during NAOSH (North American Occupational Safety and Health) week to mark Young Worker Safety Day.

The goal of the
highly interactive educational activities is to contribute to the creation of a culture of safety in Saskatchewan by sharing injury prevention strategies, and informing young and new workers of the extreme importance of workplace safety.

Age appropriate activities are developed by the host based on industry/job opportunities of relevance and interest to the participants.

What does it cost to host an Amazing Safety Quest?
There is no cost to register to host an event. However, as all of the support documents listed above are electronic, host organizations will incur nominal printing expenses.

How long does it take to run an Amazing Safety Quest event?
This event has been designed to accommodate a variety of groups and organizations. Small groups, 5 teams of 5 people or less (25), should work through the course in an hour to an hour and a half.
There are a couple of ways to host larger groups:
  1. Increase team size
  2. Have more than two volunteers at each demonstration station (volunteers demonstrate a safety skill and then assess participants as they re-create the skill demonstrated)
  3. Split larger groups up so that half watch a safety video while the remaining participants split into teams and work through the course. After 30 – 45 minutes the two groups switch so that everyone gets an opportunity to watch the video and work through the course.

What is needed to host an Amazing Safety Quest?
  • A room, or several rooms, large enough to host 4 – 5 safety demonstration activities
  • 3 – 4 Fast Forward Stations
  • A U-Turn location
  • Final Quiz station
  • 1 or 2 people to look after the logistics of the event in the days and weeks leading up to the event
  • 4 – 5 volunteers from industry to demonstrate safety skills (eg. putting on a Fall Protection Harness)
  • 3 – 4 volunteers to ask safety quiz questions at the Fast Forward stations
  • A volunteer to oversee the Final Quiz and help to tally points
  • From a technical perspective, you will need to be able to play a 3 – 5 minute welcome clip (there will be clues in the clip that will help teams answer the Fast Forward and final quiz questions)
